Yesterday we went to CHOP for Nina's ABR test.We were to keep her up all morning so she would sleep for test. The day was great! We walked around Penn campus, fed her and she fell asleep just in time for her test. They put three probes on her. (one behind each ear and one on her frontal lobe) then they put little earphones in each ear and measured how her brain stem reacted to different frequency tones. It took about an hour, she started to wake up so that's why it ended... Her right ear checked out normal and the left ear has some fluid in the middle part causing her to have mild hearing loss. They said she could not hear whispers in her left ear. When they checked the inner part of her left ear she could hear the more lower tones so we know it is the fluid that's causing this. We go back in two months for repeat test. Until then we are to talk to Ped to see what he wants to do about the fluid... I asked if this was preemie related and the audiologist there could not tell me for sure.We have what I think may be our last nurse visit tomorrow. I think Nina will be 8 pounds at least.. She 's doing pretty great! She smiles a lot and loves sucking on her fingers and is eating well for us. It takes some time, she is not sucking down 3+ oz in record time, but she is getting it down and we are thankful.
