Last night's visit was not a very good one. Nina did not respond they way they wanted her to on the high-freg vent(her CO2 levels were super high-not good)) so they took her off and put back onto the standard vent with higher settings. She seemed to do OK on the vent with higher settings, but began to have seizures late afternoon into evening. Dr are giving her meds to stop the seizures and it seems to be working b/c she is not having them today. She had a EEG today to record the electrical activity in her brain. They will let us know what those results were later on after specialist reviews. She also had another head ultrasound and that came back clean. The plan now is to see how she does in the next 24-48 hours with standard vent/high settings. They will check her blood gas many times during the day to see how she is exchanging gases.
Nina is a very sick baby right now and it's very hard to see her fighting for her life-machines can only do so much.
Livia is doing great today. She is off the vent and back on CPAP breathing all on her own and doing good. Keep up the good work Livia!! The Dr's are pleased with her levels from the blood gas so we are hopeful.
Georgia is going OK, She's still on vent and they are weaning her O2 levels down. Her blood gas results are stable today so we are hoping she will do OK with the lower O2 levels so she can come off vent soon.
