Oh where to begin...First we must celebrate Nina for she has reached
3 pounds!! She is on 21% O2 on her cannula and we expect her feed time to decrease in this coming week. June will be Nina's month to kick some NICU ASS!
YOU GROW GIRL!
Our sweet Livia does not have that much to celebrate lately, she is still having nutrition problems and today Doc took her off my milk and put her on this special formula called Progestermil: used for malabsorption/inability of the bowel to absorb nutrients normally. Please Please Please work... She needs to gain weight and get healthy. Her liver is inflamed and she is just not turning the corner to where she should be at this age. Next week we are considering transfer to CHOP where she will be seen by many Specialists. We have to give her a fighting chance.

A little advice.... Don't wait too long to consider CHOP. I think Livia could improve there. They have nutritionists, endocrinologists, etc... a whole team to assist.....I'm praying for your girls. Hang in there. They're beautiful!!!
Good luck.
That pregestimil sure is stinky stuff! My Amelia needed to be on it too, in order to get up to a full volume of feedings. After she reached full volume, we slowly reintroduced the (never fortified) breastmilk, and she tolerated it beautifully! Just keep believing in Livia...she doesn't know how to give up or quit, that is a learned behavior. Our preemies are such strong fighters, and she has the bonus of Miss Georgia Mary on her side. I'm thinking of you all, and praying too.

Congrats to Nina for hitting the 3 pound mark! She'll surely start packing it on now! I will continue to pray for your girls and for sweet Livia to keep fighting.
God bless,
Casey

God is always with us....always ...
That's wonderful news about Nina...3lbs...awesome. CHOP is one of the best, if not the best place if you need to move Livia there. We'll continue to pray for both, with a little "extra" for Livia to turn the corner.

My Alyssa is 7 months and is still on pergestimil for the same issues. They were talking feeding tubes and everything before the pregestimil. We added polycose, a high calorie additive. (you might want to ask about it.) Within two weeks she gained a pound. I am not kidding. She went from 2.6 to 3.6 in two weeks. This stuff is gross, but around our house its known as miracle grow. I just know it will be the same for Livia.
